Self Analysis
A personal SWOT analysis is a self-assessment tool focused on outlining professional strengths and weaknesses, opportunities for growth, and threats to success. By conducting a SWOT analysis, you gain insight into where you excel, areas for improvement, and potential pathways to achieve your goals. I did a personal SWOT on myself on my position as a fashion student and my future in the fashion industry. By doing this, I have visual recognition of the strengths I've built up, my weaknesses I need to improve on, my opportunities in my future education and career and the threats I am/ will face. Having this acknowledgement written out will help me in sustaining and improving on myself and my personal branding to ensure I'm constantly identifying my weaknesses and enhancing on them alongside my strengths in my education and career.
Strengths
-I have a strong passion for fashion styling and design.
-I have experience in fashion and textile design, pattern cutting and sewing.
-I have connections to college and university tutors as well as other students.
-I have an interest in current trends, but also assisting people in finding their own style.
Weaknesses
-I have anxiety, which causes me to avoid valuable opportunities.
-I sometimes lack motivation to complete work, leading to procrastination and rushed work.
-I struggle giving my writing personality and uniqueness.
-My anxiety stops me from reaching out to tutors for advice.
-Lack of industry experience and knowledge.
Opportunities
-Industry guest talks help expand industry awareness and the opportunity to create networks.
-I have tutors available to contact for career advice and knowledge of the career I want to get into.
-My education experience and future diploma will help me reach my goal career.
-Collaborating with other students can expand my reach and introduce my work to new audiences.
-I have the time and opportunities to create my own personal branding to set me apart in the industry.
Threats
-My bad habits (procrastination, easily distracted, etc.) could make recruiters and managers view me as unreliable.
-My anxiety will threaten my networking skills and ability to open up new opportunities.
-New AI and image recognition technology may threaten the amount of job positions.
-VR enables people to virtually try on clothing, possibly reducing the need for stylists.
